Everything is read aloud
A child hears every single letter and every whole word, so learning can start before reading does, with no grown-up needed at hand. On top of that comes the Comenia Pictures picture alphabet: A as in Angel, B as in Bear, C as in Caterpillar.

Meadow Letters
A playful activity with an English voice-over: the butterfly leads children through their first strokes.
Children trace letters across the whole screen, which naturally loosens up the hand. The English voice-over and the Comenia Pictures picture alphabet help them remember what each letter looks like. Correct strokes earn praise, a wrong turn gets a gentle warning. For right-handed and left-handed children alike.

Word Composer
Children build words and sentences out of letters, like magnets on a fridge door.
Letters are dragged onto a yellow surface, where they snap together magnetically one after another. As soon as a word is spelled correctly, it is read aloud and a picture from Comenia Pictures appears. Children work with spaces too, and they can delete letters or slot new ones into the middle of a word.

Copybook
A digital copybook: the child writes between ruled lines, just like on paper.
Writing takes place in prepared ruled lines, accompanied by the Comenia Pictures picture alphabet. It makes a good companion to a classic paper copybook in the first year of school. Children can pick from several coloured crayons and rub out whatever they want to write again. Stroke order can be set for right-handers as well as left-handers.

Rainbow Letter
Writing letters in colour: children choose crayons, overlap strokes and mix the colours.
This activity is the step towards writing letters without any guide lines. Children pick from a range of coloured crayons, overlap their strokes and watch the colours blend into each other. Nothing is timed and nothing is wrong, so it works well once tracing already feels easy. Stroke order can be set for right-handers as well as left-handers.

Alphabet Exercises
The whole alphabet in 9 exercises: from copying and transcription to self-dictation.
Ideal at the end of the first school year as summer practice, or at the start of the second one for revision. It covers copying, transcription and self-dictation, 9 different exercises in all. Every word is read aloud and paired with a picture from the Comenia Pictures alphabet, so a child gets by without an adult reading the task out. Several themed alphabets are available, from animals to towns.

Crosswords
Playful picture crosswords: children practise writing and solve a puzzle at the same time.
The crosswords are generated from a built-in word list, chosen to match what a child can handle in the first year of school. Two types are offered, an easier one with short words and a harder one with longer words. A hint function drops a few letters into the empty squares. Finished crosswords can be printed out.

Listen & Pick
The child hears a word and picks the right picture, an exercise for those who cannot write yet.
The activity rests on hearing alone: a recorded word is played and the child picks the matching picture out of the options. The word can be replayed as many times as needed. Every correct answer is rewarded with a flower. What it trains is auditory discrimination, the skill that comes before both writing and reading, so even a preschooler can join in.

Memory
A classic memory game: picture matched with picture, or word matched with picture.
The child turns cards over two at a time and looks for pairs. In the settings, picture matching switches to word ↔ picture, so visual memory turns smoothly into reading: the card reading "frog" belongs with the picture of one. Two difficulty levels differ in the number of cards, and every pair found is read aloud.

Missing Letter
One letter is missing from the word and the child drags it in from the tray.
Next to a picture sits a word built from letter cards, with one slot left empty. The child drags the right letter in and the finished word is read aloud. The easier variant always leaves out the first letter (practising the initial sound), the harder one any letter in the word, and uppercase or lowercase can be switched at any time. It is the most common school exercise there is, only here without paper and without rubbing out.
